NXT Review, 10/10

IN-RING PROMO: TOMMASO CIAMPA

Ciampa calls out Velveteen Dream, and Dream comes out and cuts what sounds suspiciously like a face promo. Ciampa brutally says maybe Dream is just not… Tough Enough. That’s COLD. Dream says he’s more man than Ciampa can handle. Out comes… Nikki Cross?!? Hell yeah, give her a title shot! It probably has more to do with Aleister Black, but I want to see her wrestle these guys. The crowd launches into a “TRIPLE THREAT!” chant while Nikki plays with both men.

She bounces up and down while the crowd chants “Nikki knows a secret.” She’s… fucking insane. And she slaps the mic out of Ciampa’s hand. She won’t pick up the mic instead she gets on her stomach and talks into it while it lays in the mat. This is terrific.

KEITH LEE VS. KONA REEVES

As much as I don’t like Reeves’ gimmick, he does have a pretty great theme song. He bores me in the ring. I think he bores Lee too, because it gets to a point where every punch just gets Lee madder, and he hits a Super Nova for a pretty quick win. It shows that they think about as highly of Reeves as I do right now.

Match Rating: Two Gold Medals

I can’t wait to see the Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane rematch at Evolution.

Kassius Ohno is still mad. Who is William Regal’s “shiny new toy” that he’s talking about?

Next week: War Raiders vs. Undisputed Era! Nikki Cross vs. Bianca Belair! I can’t wait. I love that Nikki and Bianca are being billed as a double main event with the Tag Team Championship match.

NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT MATCH: ADAM COLE VS. PETE DUNNE VS. RICOCHET (c)

I want them to get nuts. No DQs, USE THAT STIP! Ricochet and Adam Cole fight over who gets to beat up Adam Cole. Unfortunately they’re doing the thing I FUCKING HATE with one guy getting thrown out of the ring and staying down for minutes at a time. GOD DAMN YOU GUYS FOR THAT SHIT!

Ricochet stands back and allows Pete Dunne to put the Surfboard Stretch on Adam Cole, throwing Cole a sliding kick for good measure. Dunne thanks him with a knockout punch. AND COLE ROLLS TO THE OUTSIDE! GAAAAAAHHH!!!

Cole comes back in, and throws Ricochet out. Yawn. It’s ruining what should be an awesome match. Nobody is taking advantage of the no DQ stipulation either. RICOCHET, IT’S YOUR FUCKING TITLE THAT TWO OTHER GUYS ARE FIGHTING FOR!

Finally Ricochet comes back in, but of course now it’s Pete Dunne’s turn to be outside. DAMN IT!! Thankfully Dunne gets back in pretty quickly and puts BOTH Cole and Ricochet in a half crab. Maybe now these guys have exhausted their lay down on the floor time, so we might finally get a good match.

Ricochet with a springboard moonsault, and both Cole and Dunne kick him at the same time. Everybody down. Eventually EVERYBODY ends up on the outside, but at least they’re all fighting. X-Plex from Dunne on Ricochet, and Cole BARELY saves the match. Ricochet was done without a doubt if not for Cole. Here comes the obligatory three-man top rope move, but at least this time it’s something new, a double hurricanrana from Ricochet!

Amazing sequence where Dunne hit Cole with the bitter end, Ricochet immediately goes for a shooting star press and lands on Dunne, but Dunne turns it right into a Triangle! Cole kicks Ricochet out of the ring and hits his finisher on Cole for 1-2- KICK OUT! Dunne with another Bitter End on Cole, Ricochet breaks it up with a 450 SPLASH! He pins Dunne to retain the title. Man, I really complained about how the first half of that match went, but once it got good, it was incredible.
