NXT TakeOver: WarGames II Review

MATT RIDDLE VS. KASSIUS OHNO

Matt Riddle holds zero appeal for me. I’d like to see Ohno smash his jaw. Wait… what the fuck was that? Did they just bury the hell out of Kassius Ohno? Well I guess it’s more putting Riddle over, Ohno will be fine but… ok. I really just hate the stoner “bro” thing. Still, I’ll admit that was a great way to fire up the crowd to start the show.

HEAVY MACHINERY VS. FORGOTTEN SONS

Cutler and Blake compete for the Forgotten Sons. The Sons do a great job on tagging in and out quickly and controlling Knight, until Knight hits a double cross body then tags in Dozovic. LIGERO VS. “WILD BOAR” MIKE HITCHMAN

I don’t know either of these guys, but from the crowd reaction to their entrances, Ligero is the face and Wild Boar is the heel. As you can imagine with a dude named Wild Board, he’s THICK. He looks like a British Rhyno. Ligero is not small, but he’s certainly at a size and strength advantage.

NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: WAR RAIDERS VS. UNDISPUTED ERA (c)

I’ve been waiting for this. I think Undisputed Era is going to get disqualified somehow and keep the titles. I’m a huge War Raiders fan, so I’m hoping I’m wrong and we have new champions. However, I am rarely, rarely, RARELY wrong. About anything. Ever.

MARK ANDREWS VS. JOE COFFEY w/MARK COFFEY

Huge size advantage for Coffey, but Andrews is ridiculously fast and evasive. Andrews is out-muscled in an ill-advised early lock up, but once he starts to fly he gets some good shots in. Coffey is a big, strong dude, and can recover a lot more quickly, so it’s going to be easier for him to recover from Andrews’ attacks than it will be for Andrews if Coffey gets his power offense going.
