Just a birthday today, and it’s one of the most famous women in WWF/E history.
BIRTHDAYS
Miss Elizabeth would have turned 58 today. She married “Macho Man” Randy Savage in 1984 and came into the WWF the next summer as his manager. Her first major angle was when George “The Animal” Steele fell in love with her. She also managed Savage and Hogan as The Mega Powers. Elizabeth and Randy’s marriage and divorce was acknowledge in WWF Magazine, a rarity in the days when kayfabe was protected at all costs.
She stayed with Savage as his manager in the WWF even after their separation, and followed him to WCW in 1996. There she managed the Four Horsemen and also joined the nWo as a heel. Infamously she accused Goldberg of stalking and assault on a 1999 episode of Nitro and had him arrested. She managed Lex Luger for a little while then retired in 2000 after her contract expired.
Elizabeth and Luger stayed together as a couple, after leaving WCW in 2000. After her departure from wrestling, she began working at the front desk at Main Event Fitness in Marietta, Georgia, a gym that Luger had owned for years with Sting.
On May 1, 2003, in Marietta, Georgia, Luger called 911 to report that Hulette was not breathing (the phone number, not the ECW wrestler. She was not in need of a choke slam). She did not respond to CPR, and paramedics rushed her to the WellStar Kennestone Hospital Emergency Room, where she was pronounced dead at the age of 42. A medical examiner listed the cause of death as “acute toxicity”, brought on by a mix of painkillers and vodka. Her death was ruled an accident. Happy birthday Liz.
