SummerSlam Predictions

I label these “predictions” to be traditional. Below is what is going to happen.

KICKOFF SHOW MATCHES:

 

RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE REVIVAL VS. THE B-TEAM (c)

Revival are a great tag team, but B-Team is money right now. Don’t be surprised to see Matt and Bray get involved.

PREDICTION: B-Team

 

RUSEV & LANA VS. ANDRADE “CIEN” ALMAS & ZELINA VEGA

Thankfully I think WWE is going to go with long-term development rather than immediate gratification here. Sorry Rusev, but you’ve become a chant and pretty much nothing else, and an invasion species of chant at that. These hipster doofuses are going to chant it whether he wins, loses, doesn’t wrestle, or retires for three years. The best choice is have the hottest up-and-coming heels on the roster go over and let Zelina have those bragging rights. She’s gold on the mic. A win would do nothing for Rusev. It makes the narrative slightly better if Lana get the pin in that she’s transitioning into an active wrestler while Zelina is booked as a valet (though her wrestling is awesome), but where is Lana really going in this division?

PREDICTION: Andrade “Cien” Almas & Zelina Vega

 

CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: DREW GULAK VS. CEDRIC ALEXANDER (c)

Gulak has been built up and booked very strongly leading up to this match, and I feel like he should get the win, but it’s a great narrative for Cedric to overcome what has seemed like an unstoppable challenger thus far. 205 Live is better with Alexander is the champ right now.

PREDICTION: Cedric Alexander

 

MAIN SHOW:

 

DANIEL BRYAN VS. THE MIZ

This is what people have been clamoring for since Daniel Bryan returned: to shut Miz the fuck up. And this needs to be a clean pin or submission. It makes for a great feud when Miz has something over Bryan, but eventually the good guy has to win, and we’ve reached that point.

PREDICTION: Daniel Bryan

 

BARON CORBIN VS. FINN BALOR

Finn has been pretty directionless lately and has been used as jobber fodder a few times for seemingly no reason. It’s time to end that here and start booking him strongly.

PREDICTION: Finn Balor

 

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: JEFF HARDY VS. SHINSUKE NAKAMURA (c)

Nakamura retains so Jeff can move into a feud with Randy Orton, who will likely either interfere in the match or attack Jeff afterwards.

PREDICTION: Shinsuke Nakamura

 

SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE NEW DAY VS. THE BLUDGEON BROTHERS (c)

The Bludgeon Brothers have been unstoppable, but I think in Brooklyn the New Day will win the belts. They have huge support there and it’ll add to their legacy if they can overcome Harper and Rowan. It also opens the door for SAnitY to eventually win the belts from them.

SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT MATCH: BECKY LYNCH VS. CHARLOTTE FLAIR VS. CARMELLA (c)

It’s Becky’s time. They’ve been building her up continuously and playing up the narrative that she’s always the sidekick and never the star. She’s been champion before but this feels bigger. She has a ton of crowd support and the reaction if she wins will be terrific.

PREDICTION: Winner, and NEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW SmackDown Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch

 

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: SETH ROLLINS W/DEAN AMBROSE VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER (c) W/DREW McINTYRE

Seth wins back his title so that Drew McIntyre can take it from him shortly. We’ll definitely see McIntyre and Ambrose go at it at some point.

PREDICTION: Winner, and NEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW WWE Intercontinental Champion, Seth Rollins

 

MONEY IN THE BANK CONTRACT MATCH: KEVIN OWENS VS. BRAUN STROWMAN

There’s been a lot of teasing that if Braun loses in any way at all, Owens wins the MITB contract. Owens should just hire someone to come shove him as soon as the match starts so Braun gets DQ’d. I don’t think the briefcase is going anywhere. I’m sure we’ll have a scare or two, but the briefcase stays with the monster.

PREDICTION: Braun Strowman

 

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: SAMOA JOE VS. AJ STYLES (c)

They needed a legitimate challenger to AJ’s title for the big show. The storyline is really good, but Joe has been hurt to much for them to give him the title. And AJ is nowhere near ready to give it up anyway.

PREDICTION: AJ Styles

 

RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: RONDA ROUSEY VS. ALEXA BLISS (c)

Rousey snaps Alexa’s arm in half and the place explodes. Mark it dude.

PREDICTION: Winner, and NEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW Raw Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey

 

UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: ROMAN REIGNS VS. BROCK LESNAR (c)

Don’t fight it. Whether you like it, or you don’t like it, learn to love it.

PREDICTION: Winner, and NEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

Believe that. I think Braun will save the cash in for Monday, which I will be there to see as well.
