Merry meet, and Happy Samhain!
MOUSTACHE MOUNTAIN VS. SAXON HUXLEY & SAM GRADWELL
I have no idea who Huxley and Gradwell are, but Moustache Mountain challenge the rest of the roster to make a great tag team division, and Huxley and Gradwell are the first to step up. They’re clearly a heel team. The British crowd can be pretty obnoxious sometimes, and they’ve turned up the annoyance to 11 on just the first match.
The match at this point is pretty much Huxley trying to keep Trent Seven from getting to Tyler Bate to make a tag. He finally makes the tag with Huxley and Gradwell on the outside, and Bate immediately does a running flip over the top rope. Back in the ring he does a standing Shooting Star Press, which amazingly doesn’t even seem like a huge deal with him anymore. It’s just oh yeah it’s part of his repertoire.
Gradwell gets a deep Boston Crab in on Seven, and Bate uses Huxley as a battering ram to break up the move. Bate tags in, and he and Seven do a awesome combination finisher: Seven holds Gradwell in a Full Nelson, Bate bounces off the ropes, and hits a clothesline at the same time Seven does a Snap Dragon Suplex. Moustache Mountain wins. The early part of the match was boring and the crowd sucked, but both got tremendously better and it turned into a great match.
Match Rating: Seven Gold Medals
Travis Banks, who is supposed to face Wolfgang in the main event, is seen laid out backstage. We get a vignette/video package for Isla Dawn, who I’ve seen wrestle before and is pretty awesome.
Mark Andrews says the Coffey Brothers attacked Banks, wants Wolfgant in the ring, to avenge Banks, and tells Johnny Saint to make it happen.
NINA SAMUELS VS. ISLA DAWN
Nina Samuels lost to Toni Storm in her first match, so I guess at least for now she’s the jobber to the stars-in-the-making. I hope this it was planned out this way, that Isla Dawn’s debut would be aired on Samhain. Even if not, that’s awesomely fitting. Samuels cares not for Dawn’s debut, and throws some brutal attacks at her, including a really strong Irish Whip into the corner from about half a foot away.
Isla Dawn counters a suplex, ducks a kick, nails her own kick into Samuels’ head, and hits a suplex/powerslam for the win in her debut. Dawn hardly got in any offense at all until the finish, but she looked good getting her ass kicked. Samuels is very impressive, and if she’s going to keep putting over the future stars like this, the stars are going to get over really quick.
Match Rating: Six Gold Medals
PETE DUNNE INTERVIEW
Pete Dunne cuts a promo on Danny Burch. He says Burch may have invented British strong style, but Dunne is the one who perfected it. Dunne is a great interview.
Promo rating: Seven Stone Colds
We get another vignette, this one for Eddie Dennis, who is bitter that his friends got to WWE before him. He’ll debut next week.
JORDAN DEVLIN VS. TUCKER
These guys are quick. They both remind me of Finn Balor. Tucker ever does a Sling Blade. Of course they mention that Devlin was trained by Balor, it makes sense. Devlin hit some awesome version of a Death Valley Driver for a win. Not a ton of power moves in the match but a lot of quick and impressive offense from both guys in an entertaining match.
Match Rating: Six Gold Medals
DANNY BURCH INTERVIEW
Danny Burch responds to Pete Dunne. He tells the story of constant rejection and obstacles throughout his wrestling career. Burch acknowledges that Dunne is good at EVERYTHING and that he can’t let him get ahead. He’s happy that Dunne takes it that far, because “that’s just another day in my life.” Burch seems like he’s been in quite a few bar fights in his life. “Come talk to me in two weeks time when I’m sitting here with the WWE UK Championship around my waist.”
Promo Rating: Seven Stone Colds
WOLFGANG VS. MARK ANDREWS
Andrews is quick, but Wolfgang is STRONG. Wolfgang beats on Andrews, but Andrews is very resilient and eventually is able to chop Wolfgang down. Andrews moves like he has no bones, it’s ridiculous. Wolfgang hits a BRUTAL spear, and I have no idea how Andrews kicked out. Wolfgang makes a big mistake with a missed moonsault, and Andrews turns his own moonsault into a DDT. I told you, no bones.
Andrews tries the DDT again but gets caught, still manages to hit Stun Dog Millionaire, then hits one of the highest Shooting Star Presses I’ve ever seen for the win. He got a full two seconds of air time. He’s incredible. They shake hands after the match to the crowd’s delight.
Match Rating: Six Gold Medals
The Coffey Brothers attack Mark Andrews. Wolfgang just watches while Flash Morgan Webster tries to help. He gets beaten down himself until Wolfgang finally gets in the ring and chases them off. WOLFGANG ATTACKS FLASH MORGAN WEBSTER AND MARK ANDREWS! That’s a bad dude, and this will be a DANGEROUS faction. This is a big deal.
