GORILLA FIGHTERS: El Ídolo

gorilla position

Welcome to Gorilla Fighters, a feature where I profile some of the lesser-known entities of WWE and NXT. Not so much lesser-known as in terribly obscure or superstars who barely wrestle, but people that though we see them on TV and have become a little familiar with them, we really don’t know that much about. We pretty much know the life stories of guys like John Cena, Randy Orton, Kane, Undertaker, Triple H… they’ve been around for decades and have been profiled and had their stories told to us by JR, King, JBL, Michael Cole, and countless backstage interviewers. In this feature, I’ll try to research the same information about wrestlers that I find highly interesting and want to know more about, and I’ll definitely take suggestions on who to feature in these posts. I’ll also discuss each wrestler’s potential, where they are now, and where I hope they’ll end up.

Today I’ll profile one of the hottest up-and-coming heels on the SmackDown Live roster, El Ídolo, Andrade “Cien” Almas.

Mixed Match Challenge Review, Week One

TEAM MONSTER ECLIPSE (BRAUN STROWMAN & EMBER MOON) VS. TEAM PAWZ (KEVIN OWENS & NATALYA)

Let’s not pretend we’re here to see anything other than Braun Strowman smashing Kevin Owens. However, I do love watching Ember Moon wrestle. I love Owens pleading with Natalya, “Don’t let her tag!” Owens’ insults are entertaining. “Congratulations, you’re eight years old.”

SmackDown Live Review, 9/18

MIZTV

Miz announces a number one contender match against Daniel Bryan at Super Showdown. Maryse announces to thunderous applause that this is her last night on SmackDown Live. Daniel Bryan comes out to beat the balls off of Miz and knocks him into Maryse. Miz barely touched her and she needs a stretcher. You can see her smiling and Miz is about to attack DB as soon as he gets up and we’ll see she’s faking. It’s exactly what happens, and this time she gets tagged good. Excellent.

Raw Review, 9/17

OPENING SEGMENT: ROMAN REIGNS

Roman calling out Brock is bad ass. Lesnar doesn’t come out when called, he waits until someone is beaten down and vulnerable. Chicken shit? Probably. But he almost always is the one standing at the end, so maybe he has the right idea. I’m smelling a triple threat match for the title. Or maybe a number one contender match between Strowman and Lesnar first. Corbin is a bitch as GM and is so easy to hate.

Hell in a Cell Ending

I thought the Hell in a Cell main event was a really good match. I thought it was total crap that Strowman and Reigns laid there for 5-10 minutes while everything happened around them.  I know you want the focus to be on the guys fighting on top of and falling off of the cell, but come on, have them do SOMETHING. Dan McQuade of Deadspin thinks there’s too much interference in these types of matches. What people really seem to be pissed about is the ending. I don’t put a lot of stock in what live crowds have to say anymore, but there’s a video going around of them chanting “this is bullshit” when the match was declared a no contest. So I want to know what people think, if a Hell in a Cell match should EVER be declared a no contest and if you’re cool with last night’s ending.

Predictions for Hell In The Cell 2018

Hello Readers!

Welcome to my first blog post, hopefully it’s not as bad as I think it will be. Let me tell you a little bit about myself before I give you my predictions of tonights PPV.  I grew up in the attitude era and loved it.  Unlike children of today,  there was no WWE network.  I had to save up for it or beg my mom to rent it for me, and it wasn’t $10.  I wasn’t able to watch every single PPV, but the ones I did watch were AMAZING. One of the PPV’s I was able to watch was The King of the Ring, so when I think of Hell in the Cell, I think of  Undertaker Vs Mankind. The most amazing match ever, in my book. Anyways, enough with the nostalgia, lets get down to tonight’s line up.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: New Day (c) vs. Rusev Day (Kickoff Show)

Rusev Day! Rusev Day! Rusev Day!

I enjoy a good chant, but I really don’t see Rusev Day pulling it off. I enjoy them, but I still think they need to grow as a team. That and New Day just recently became champions, which I had the pleasure of witnessing live. (WHICH WAS AMAZE BALLS, FYI). So I really don’t see them losing.

It should be a pretty good match, Rusev is a brut in the ring and so powerful. I am hoping it will be Big E and Kofi representing New Day, since Aiden english is so how do you say it “Skrawny”. Not saying Kofi, is at that level, but Woods is too solid and not as lanky. I also love when Kofi goes flying, so I would love to see that.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Lana decides to throw some interference to help her hubby. Either way It will not help them, and probably will end up costing them the match.  I feel as though we may see a tag team pop up at the end of the match. We didn’t get any new blood from NXT showing up, so maybe tonight will be the night?

Winners: NEW DAY!!!!
