My predictions along with the other writers’ will be going up on ringthedamnbell.WordPress.com this weekend, but here’s an early look at mine:
Shorty G vs. Sheamus – SHEAMUS
This one is a no-brainer. Shorty G has zero momentum and is in a tailspin right now, while Sheamus is the returning heel looking to re-build credibility and at least get himself into the mid-card title picture.
Fun action early with both guys showing the crowd what they’re in for with dueling displays of athleticism. An appreciative “205” chant breaks out. Tremendously quick pace and great chain wrestling by both guys. If you’re not watching this show, START! You can watch ANY TIME on demand! And it’s only an hour! Much less demanding than Raw or SmackDown, and lately it’s been much better TV.
On the kickoff show, the Raw women’s team is already fighting themselves when Ruby Riott brings up Anvil’s sunglasses. Why did SmackDown pick Mandy Rose and not Nikki Cross?? Lame.
So I didn’t do any reviews on NXT, NXT UK, or 205 Live this week because I watched the shows on an almost-four-hour drive home from work on Thursday night. Not a good time for reviews, and I had a long-ass work week. So they were all really good. There you go.

Excellent and passionate promo from Daniel Bryan, except he lied about taking it from Styles at Crown Jewel. AJ says his Pelé kick to DB was on purpose. Bryan said “I am 100% honest”, but he just lied about gong to Crown Jewel. AJ SAYS LET’S DO IT NOW! Shane McMahon IS GONNA LET IT HAPPEN I THINK! Well THAT’S a way to get out of that situation! FUCK YEAH!

Big Show’s choke slam used to be good when he followed his opponent to the mat. This was meh.
Match Rating: One Gold Medal
Hell yeah! Truth TV! Dance break! And let’s pour some cold water on that boner with Stephanie McMahon and her horrendous entrance music… and what the balls is that dancing she’s doing? Odin almighty… just knock it off. But OH! HERE COMES THE MONEY! I just really don’t want this to turn into a two-hander for the McMahons. Well here comes Vince, and that’s exactly what this is. At least this was not a total McMahon family jerk off, it was a McMahon family dance break! I’m all for that. Great job.
Big E will sit this one out, a curious decision, but they must feel like Sheamus and Cesaro can both neutralize his power, so they want to double down on a speed advantage. Unfortunately for them, power is winning out in the early going. Impressive spot when Sheamus launched Woods in the air and Cesaro hit him with an uppercut.
Alexander has been undefeated for over a year. He’s been running the cruiserweight division, and deservedly so, he’s terrific. You know what else would be terrific? Giving Buddy Murphy a championship win in his hometown. I love Cedric, and Murphy is a heel, but that would be a tremendous way to start the show. I think he’d have a great run as champion, but even if you only have him win it just to do it in front of the home crowd, you could always have Alexander win it back in Saudi Arabia
